| Good ship Williams sinking in Dallas The Roy Williams ship is sinking in Dallas, slowly but surely.
First came Greg Ellis's remarks about Williams saying he wasnt comfortable in Dallas last year, and that the scheme just didnt fit him.
He had a meeting with defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and safeties coach Brett Maxie and the result of that meeting seemed reassuring. Dave Campo coming on board as secondary coach was also promising.
But still the image of Roy's declining play lingers. He's not comfortable in man coverage he says. He said on radio he just hoped opposing quarterbacks wouldnt throw the ball to him. (now that's just what you want to hear from your safety isnt it? Unfortunately opposing quarterbacks heard it too.)
All those great hits that showed up on "Jacked up"? We dont see many of them any more.
Roy was absent from OTAs up until now. He went on a family vacation. There are those who are questioning his desire to play and to improve because of that. Because his play is slipping, he should have been there they say. That he should let his teammates know that he is one of them.
Personally, I am really worried about the ship of one of my favorite Dallas players. But not for the last reason. I have some real issues with these so called "voluntary" workouts. But I need to see some of the old Roy Williams. Or I am afraid the ship is lost for good.
