| Cowboy inspired rules and penalties The latest Cowboy to join the list of Cowboys who have inspired rules and penalties named after them is MB3. Its the MB3 rule and it disallows stiff arms to the face of defenders. MB3 claimed not to know about it but wondered if maybe he could use an elbow? Other Cowboys on this prestigious list are: Deon Sanders rule: a player's salary must correlate to his signing bonus. Sanders signed with the Cowboys in 95 for minimum salary and a $13 million signing bonus. Emmitt Smith rule: a player cannot remove his helmet on the field of play except for a medical condition Erik Williams rule: no hands to the facemask by offensive linemen Mel Renfro rule: allows a second player on offense to catch a tipped ball without a defensive player subsequently touching it Michael Irvin rule: no taunting Also another rule where WR's cant push off on CBs Roy Williams rule: no horse collar tackle, inspired after Williams broke 2 players legs or ankle in one season Terrell Owens rule: no foreign objects on a player's uniform (Sharpie incident) Actually existing rules had already forbidden this Tony Romo rule: teams are given 25 extra minutes to prepare game balls and 12 "K" (sequentially numbered) balls. It is monitored by game officials instead of ball boys. Dallas Cowboys*stuff - Blogging The Boys
