| Business Day: Barber gets highest tender The club has sent one-year tender offers to three restricted free agents, including running back Marion Barber, who received the highest tender available. The Cowboys beat the NFL's 3 p.m. deadline to send out restricted offers and tendered Barber with a one-year contract of $2.562 million. He is free to negotiate with other clubs and can sign an offer sheet. The Cowboys would then have seven days to match the deal and if they chose to pass, they would receive a first- and third-round draft pick in return. The club also gave defensive end Chris Canty a tender of $2.017 million. The Cowboys would get a first-round draft pick if he signs with another team and they chose not to match. The Cowboys gave the original draft tender to guard Joe Berger, worth $927,000. But they chose not to tender running back Tyson Thompson, which likely ends his three-year stint with the club. Full back Oliver Hoyte was released on Thursday. The team has until Thursday night to work out a deal with Flozell Adams. DallasCowboys.com - News This does not mean Marion Barber will not return to the Cowboys. Dallas has the right to match the offer, or take the first and third round draft pick. This is a team that high hopes of a Super Bowl run. Jerry Jones has something up his sleeve.

We know what Barber can do, but we dont really know what any rookie can do. |

| Re: Business Day: Barber gets highest tender Yeah, I'm with Bette on this one. Of course, there has been talk that Dallas wants McFadden. But you know Barber's a quality back. McFadden... well, the jury's still out on him, but I sure don't see him being this year's Adrian Peterson or anything even remotely close.

| Re: Business Day: Barber gets highest tender I guess I still think Dallas has some players yet to get to make it all the way. Despite the 13-3 records last year, I'm not convinced they are a powerhouse team. Barber is my favorite player on the team right now, but I just think they still have some holes to fill. But with Jones pretty much out the door, I guess having Barber stay is best. At least that will preserve some continuity. |
