The Cowboys have one week to make their decision on whether or not to franchise Flozell Adams. If they do, they face a $9 million dollar hit on the salary cap, and if they dont they risk losing him on the open market Feb. 29.
He protects Tony Romo's blind side and will have a number of false starts in the season, but the Cowboys seem willing to live with that because he has to get out of his stance quickly.
He is 34 and care needs to be taken in how many practice reps he takes.
Cowboys drafted Pat McQuistan and Doug Free to be the heirs to Adam's position at left tackle, but they dont know what these players can do.
They do know what Adams can do and for a team looking at a Super Bowl run, taking a chance at an unknown is a big risk.

I say they have to figure something out. They can also restructure some of the other players' contracts or let some one go.

Yes, yes, and triple yes.
He has done his job of keeping Romo safe and its not like there is anyone on the team right now who can step into his shoes and do as well or better. Short of further injury, and that is not as likely if they are careful with his practice reps, he should still have a couple of good years left.
