| Cowboys secondary loaded with uncertainy With 75% of the starters in the Cowboys secondary at the Pro Bowl, you might think that spot is in good shape. Not at all. There is a lot of concern about that secondary. The most pressing is Ken Hamlin. Quite simply, he needs to be resigned. Then there's Roy Williams. He has not played like the Cowboys had hoped when they signed him to a 6 year deal in 2006. Flat out cutting him either this year or next would result in a big hit on the salary cap. They need to play him at least another year. They can look at other options and give him competition for the start position. Newman is one of the best cover cornerbacks in the league, but he will have turned 30 in September when the regular season begins. Now he may have 5 good years left. He is entering the last year of his contract. But it is unlikely he will see the $80 million contract Nate Clemens got from San Francisco or what Pat's Asante Samuel could get this offseason. http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cf...87-B6C0-1DBC-5 Roy Williams has been a big disappointment to me. Hamlin was a pleasant surprise. $80 million is an obscene amount to me.

| Re: Cowboys secondary loaded with uncertainy That Clemens contract completely threw things off kilter. He wasn't worth it, but by market value, Samuel should be getting MORE. Not sure where Newman fits into things here, but he shouldn't be getting $80 million. It's a mess. |

So how is he responsible for this cornerback mess? I am completely missing the picture here. |
