| Ex-Cowboys shocked by Walker's multiple personality revelation According to his upcoming book, former Cowboys running back Herschel Walker has spent his life quietly battling the effects of multiple personality disorder. "I'm in total shock," said former Cowboys defensive end Jim Jeffcoat, who was with Dallas for all of Walker's first stint with the team. "He's a good friend of mine, and I never anticipated something like this." Neither, apparently, did Walker's father. The Journal-Constitution contacted Willis Walker Sr., in Wrightsville, Ga., where Herschel's father said he was unaware of the disorder. Former Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg, who roomed with Walker during the team's 1989 training camp in Thousand Oaks, Calif., said the only off-kilter trait he noticed in Walker was a tendency to refer to himself in the third person. "But it was nothing to where you'd think this, not to the point of that diagnosis," said Laufenberg, now a local television anchor and color commentator on the Cowboys' radio broadcasts. "He was not a moody guy. There weren't mood swings, he was always the same guy. ... All I knew was the one personality that I enjoyed – a good teammate, nice guy, and a good roommate." Jeffcoat recalled no signs that Walker had issues with his personality. Ex-Cowboys surprised by Walker's multiple personality revelation | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Latest News
