Should Phillilps fear an audible??

Question: Once Jason Garrett decided to stay, how do you think Wade Phillips reacted when Jerry Jones told him?
A.) "Best news I've had all week, Jerry!"
B.) "Well, that's one assistant, anyway."
C.) "What'd you promise him?"
D.) "Do I get to keep my parking space?"

At least three times in the last week, either Jerry or Garrett has had to answer whether Garrett will be the club's next head coach sooner rather than later. And that's not healthy.
Granted, the Cowboys' season came to a sorry end. A fair amount of grumbling is to be expected, but some perspective is necessary, too.
Firing the head coach after a 13-3 debut? And with a team that hadn't won a playoff game in a decade?
All because you think the head coach is a doofus and you want a guy with three seasons as an assistant?
Now don't get me wrong about Phillips. He wasn't an inspired choice. He didn't exactly fix the defense, as promised. He's defensive, thin-skinned, a little sketchy with the truth at times and a lousy interview in general. He may even have allowed the players to think they were better than they are, setting them up for an upset.
But none of the above means the guy can't coach a little.

Phillips' biggest contribution: Once again, he put players in positions to succeed, which is why 12 of them will winter in Hawaii.
And let's not forget T.O., who put together an MVP-type season and could have passed for an Eagle Scout.
The Cowboys' offense shattered club records. Garrett receives most of the credit for that, and rightfully so.
But let me ask: If Garrett gets all the glory for how well the offense played two-thirds of the season, shouldn't he be blamed for a late collapse?
