If they would like to make him head coach, its not because he isnt black. Jones likes Garrett so naturally that gives Garrett an edge.

If Garrett was already in place before Phillips was even named, I imagine Phillips had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen. Maybe he hoped he could change Jerry's mind.

Empire wasnt taking anyones side. He's a Giant fan remember so he sure wasnt taking the Cowboys side. He just said wait a minute.
The Rooney rule had good intentions. Black candidates need to be given a chance. But teams and owners have the right to hire who they want. Garrett has been put in place to get polished and ready for the next step.
So after all that I come to the conclusion the rule has to be changed. Something to be sure that equal opportunities exist but yet not be set up so that it makes a mockery of something good.
