| It’s never a smart idea to come up with rash decisions so soon after a loss. The thought of the final disappointing moments of the season’s demise still lingering fresh in the mind has a tendency of overshadowing any good that has come from the season. I’ll grant, if you asked me a week ago if Wade Phillips should come back for a second season to the Dallas Cowboys and I would have said with out a doubt. After yesterday’s loss, I would still have been compelled to say the same. Now a day has passed, and my feelings are starting to sway. Not by the loss though, but because of the season ending press conference held at Valley Ranch today. Wade Phillips has sounded like a broken record through out the playoffs, repeating over and over the Dallas Cowboys were 13-3. This is an overall team collapse. The team simply wasn’t prepared. That falls on the coaching staff. Now maybe the time to consider a new head coach for the Dallas Cowboys. As I said earlier, it’s not usually wise to make a decision so soon after a loss. Sometimes, however, you don’t get a lot of time to make those decisions. So if the Cowboys should choose to go a different way in head coaching staff, now is the time to do so. | Re: Fire Phillips???? With all due respect, this kind of attitude is one of the biggest problems in sports these days. I mean, it's this "win now or lose your job" mentality that has good coaches getting fired after one season. At least there are some franchises like Pittsburgh and Tennessee that keep an even keel in the front office and are willing to let good coaches ride out a storm or two.

| Re: Fire Phillips???? I am not saying he should go on the basis of his team's performance in their last game either. Its just not that simple Lefty. He keeps glossing over the team's performance the whole month of December, using the theory they were 13-3 for the first time. Like others said, we want a plan to avoid that next year. He just doesnt instill the same sense of confidence I had in him earlier. Not because of his performance but the way he has reacted to that performance. He's a brilliant defensive guy. But maybe not head coach. Some of us Cowboy fans are just uneasy, that's all. Now that Garrett has been named assistant head coach, does that open the door to him stepping into the Head Coach position soon? Not that that gives me any more confidence. So far, this has just been talk of the fans. There has been nothing from the Cowboys organization itself to lend any credence to the idea that Phillips is on his way out. |

| Re: Fire Phillips???? I like the approach they're talking with Garrett. It's obvious they evenually want him to be the head coach, so slowly but surely they're giving him more and more responsibility, grooming him for the position like you would a backup quarterback. So when Phillips retires next year or the year after, he'll be good to step right in. Jones has got this set up perfectly. |

| Re: Fire Phillips???? Garrett stayed cause he was told he would be the next coach- guaranteed. This will make Phillips very comfortable next year I am sure. Garrett also knew he would no longer be a "genius" once he assumed control of Baltimore or Atlanta, what with their lack of skill players on offense.
