Cowboys assistant coaches Jason Garrett and Tony Sparano became off-limits to outside head-coaching interviews once the first-round bye week ended. Now that the NFC's top seed has been eliminated in stunning fashion, they're fair game once again.
Sparano, the Cowboys' assistant head coach, is considered the frontrunner for the Dolphins' vacancy because of his ties to Miami executives Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland. He and Garrett, the Cowboys' first-year offensive coordinator, also interviewed with Atlanta and Baltimore during wild-card weekend.
Both preferred not to speculate on their future in Dallas following Sunday's 21-17 division-round loss to the New York Giants.
