Questions mount about Cowboys

On Friday, coach Wade Phillips downplayed his role in the Cowboys' many accomplishments this season: finishing 13-3, winning the NFC East, playing host to their first home playoff game in nine years.
"I'm riding this train, but I'm just clangin' the bell," Phillips said.
There's plenty of activity elsewhere on the locomotive. The conductor, receiver Terrell Owens, is limping with a high-ankle sprain. He says he will play today against the Giants, but how well and for how long remain serious questions.
The engineer, quarterback Tony Romo, spent the bye weekend last week in Cabo San Lucas with his latest girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. That prompted quite a discussion back home about Romo's focus on today's game, and if his relationship with Simpson would help ruin the Cowboys' run to a title.
And the owner of the railroad, Jerry Jones, met with the media last week for 45 minutes, covering everything from the signing bonuses he doled out last off-season to what he would do if Owens wanted to play and the Cowboys thought he should sit out another week.
As if Cowboys fans don't have enough concerns, given Romo's vacation and Owens' ankle, there is this: Their team hasn't played consistently well in more than a month. At 13-3, the Cowboys are the NFC's top seed, but they are 2-2 since beating the Packers in late November.
The Cowboys don't appear concerned. On Friday, the locker room was the site of a playful wrestling match between receivers Sam Hurd and Isaiah Stanback.
"Look at how we responded to each one of our losses," guard Leonard Davis said. "We responded very well. You have to take that into account."
The Cowboys didn't lose two in a row all season, and one of their losses came to Washington in the final week when they rested several starters.
Today's game against the Giants, however, will be their toughest in weeks, especially if Owens is limited.
And there's this historical nugget: The Cowboys have never beaten a team three times in a season.
