| Williams will replace Taylor in Pro Bowl Roy Williams is thankful that he'll be at the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in six years. But he's also well aware of how he got there. Late Redskins safety Sean Taylor was selected as an NFC starter, and his spot had to be filled. Williams was first alternate. "If Sean was still here, I wouldn't be going," Williams said. "I appreciate being the first alternate to go. Dallas Cowboys' Roy Williams added to Pro Bowl | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Latest News

| Re: Williams will replace Taylor in Pro Bowl This came from a blog, but I saw other players committing horse collar tackles also. Its not a legal hold anymore and he needs to quit it, now, but he's not a dirty player and you know it simon. Do you think Harrison is dirty or just a hard hitter. I think Lefty kind of hit it right on the head. You are trying too hard to defend the Pats. So triple Baaaaaziiiiing or whatever Quality said. Don’t disrespect Roy, please. No one has a right to shun him just because of the horse-collar tackles. I saw three players commit horse-collar tackles in games last week and not one was penalized. Why? Because none of those players has the sheer power Roy has. When he grabs someone, he pulls them to the ground with force. He’s a beast. And he’s a feared hitter. | Re: Williams will replace Taylor in Pro Bowl I'm not sure that Williams deserves to go regardless. But it has nothing to do with horse collars, but more to do with the fact that he just doesn't play all aspects of his position well enough to merit it. I won't even comment on the other crap. This has zero to do with any other team, other than maybe the Redskins. It sure doesn't make Moss or Belechick any different than they were yesterday. Folks who don't like em, don't like em. It's kind of a shame that in the wake of a great players death that we have to find a replacement for him period. Let's not bog it down in BS, or personal agendas. RIP Sean Taylor, and I hope the Roy Williams finds a way to do him proud on the field. Most players don't even wanna play in the Pro Bowl anymore, so I'm not gonna waste any more keystrokes on this. |

As for the latter part of your post, I think that no, some players dont want to go, but there are others who consider it a great honor. Williams is well aware that he is only going because of Taylor's death and says he wants to do something to honor Taylor. |

Agreed. And I do hope he does him proud, as I said in the post. Personally, I think the players should be honered to play in it, but I can understand wanting to get started on off season health issues, such as surgeries and other rehab. I still watch, but part of the reason that fans don't is that the best players sometimes sit the game out! I hope Roy gets an INT, and can somehow tie that to a tribute to Taylor. |
