Cowboys appear close to resigning Crayton

What a week this could be for the Cowboys' wide receivers. Terrell Owens is out with a high ankle sprain that has the team crossing its fingers concerning his availability for the playoffs.
Terry Glenn is expected to play for the first time all season this Sunday in Washington.
And now it appears wide receiver Patrick Crayton is getting close to a contract extension.
The fourth-year pro, who is expected to become an unrestricted free agent in the off-season, said on Thursday he is hopeful to get a deal done in the near future, possibly as early as this week.
“Hopefully pretty soon,” Crayton said. “This is exactly where I want to be.”
Crayton also responded to recent reports he might be interested in re-joining Bill Parcells, the new vice president of football operations for the Miami Dolphins.
Crayton denied any interest in leaving the Cowboys on Thursday, stating his focus is getting a deal done and staying in Dallas.

I don't think you can ever have too many good receivers...

Even with T.O. out, when Glenn steps on the field they're gonna have to respect him if for no other reason than his history. And that's just gonna make the day a little easier on the rest of the guys...

We also have Miles Austin and Sam Hurd who are coming along. But TO is what, 34, and Glenn is 33. According to the coaching staff, Glenn is still showing some of that famous speed. But he has a lot of problems with staying healthy. I think Dallas needs to get another receiver. Especially a breakout player like TO. We need another outstanding young receiver to go with that hot young quarterback we have.
Agreed???

Re: Cowboys appear close to resigning Crayton

I watched Earl Campbell's son playing for a local high school 6-8 years ago. He had the makings of a great player, just like his dad except he was a wide out. And the team he played on was unbeaten. Haven't heard anything about him since he graduated...

On the other hand one of the premier QB's in the NFL today played at a local high school without a lot of fanfare (but some.) His team also went to the state playoffs (don't remember if they won or not). Seems as time went on he just got better and better. Now everybody knows him .. his name is Drew Brees.

Here's hoping Mr. Crabtree follows the Brees model...
