this was done as a result of his horse collar tackle on the Eagles Donovan McNabb

Hey now!...That is cool...a rule bacause of the way you tackle...I like his style of play...part linebacker, part safety...though he gets lost in the backfield sometimes...still I can live with his tackles...they need his hitting.

I'm a Cowboys fan, but it is time to do something about it. I love the hard hits, but that kind of tackle has caused him to injure way too many players. IF they get hurt on a clean tackle, too bad. But the rule is there, and he needs to follow it. I don't want to be known as a dirty team. Nor do I want other teams trying to hurt my best player in retaliation.

Maybe this will drive it into his head...

I think by now its probably instinct with him...I think if he starts thinking too much out there he is going to be missing tackles...but yeah if you do it, you gotta get fined.

I just hope he can break himself of the habit. By now, the refs are looking for him to do it, and I suppose they should. I have seen others make similar tackles, and get the benefit of the doubt.

He can, and will, get past this. He better, if he wants to be remembered as a good player, and not a rule breaker.

Didn't the Cowboys sign off on that promise not to get dumb unsportsman like penalties like this? maybe his mates will jump all over him.

Yes, they did. This is his third one for this year. I held my breath when he did it on McNabb. I was afraid Mcnabb wouldnt get up again. Its a nasty tackle.
And it is correct that this tackle was outlawed because of him. Remember he put Owens out with it. Back when Parcells was coach, I remember it being discussed with him and if it was a choice of making the tackle that way and getting fined or not making the tackle and facing Parcells, he said he would take the fine any day. But Phillips is not Parcells and he needs to get over that mentality. And a suspension should make him think a little bit harder on it than a fine.
