| Newman On Watch The National Football League has placed Cowboys defensive back Terence Newman on notice after he suggested that Lions quarterback Jon Kitna could be a target on Sunday. "Basically what it boils down to is you've got to watch what you say," Newman said on Sirius NFL Radio, in reference to comments Kitna made about the Cowboys' defense after the then 2-13 Lions somehow found a way to beat Dallas to end the 2006 regular season. "Your mouth can't write checks that your [expletive] can't cash. That's what it comes down to. Everybody's going to see those quotes. He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge, because I've got 15, 25, 30 [thousand dollars], however much it would be for a fine. I've got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet definitely." In response, NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson sent a written warning to Newman. "Be advised that your comments will now compel us to carefully monitor your activities in this weekend's Cowboys-Lions game," Anderson wrote. "As you know, flagrant fouls may subject a player not only to fines, but to suspension as well. So conduct yourself accordingly." ProFootballTalk.com -- The Best Pro Football Scoop on the Internet |

| Re: Newman On Watch You know I agree there is time to set down on people and stop certain things, but it's gettin ridiculous with the NFL. I'm not defendin Newman, but for all the NFL knows he is just playin mind games with Kitna. Now watch and see, if Newman gets a hold of Kitna they will suspend him no matter what. The No Fun League strikes again. I think the brass in the office need to step out on the field and say somethin cross to a player on the field and see if they are able to walk away. Jackasses

| Re: Newman On Watch -Update- Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman would like everyone (especially the folks in the NFL offices who have threatened him with disciplinary action) that he was just joking when he said Lions quarterback Jon Kitna had better be ready to get drilled when the teams play on Sunday. When asked about his previous comments after practice Friday, Newman had this to say: "[Kitna] didn't say anything bad to me. I was trying to make a joke about it. I don't even blitz. I blitz like four times a year. Besides, he's bigger than me." Im guessing the note was effective.. Terence Newman on Jon Kitna Threat: 'I Was Trying to Make a Joke. | Re: Newman On Watch Hey, Kitna needs all the help he can get. Maybe the NFL executives will watch his back now, his offensive line definitely doesn't. (ha ha) 50 sacks already this season what a joke. NFL, JUST LET THE BOYS PLAY BALL!! What's the world coming to, if you can't talk a little smack in pro football? |
