| Script dictates direction for Cowboys Jason Garrett's first year as a play-caller has been an overwhelming success. It could not have been scripted any better. And part of the reason it has gone so well for the Cowboys is a script. Like a lot of play-callers across the NFL, Garrett scripts the first 15 plays his offense will run for every game. Garrett, the Cowboys offensive coordinator, is careful to not give away information. That opening script, he said is "an idea of things we want to get to, plays we like, formations we like." Garrett does not hold firm to the First 15 "Hopefully, you're practicing things you want to run in a game and guys get an understanding of that," Garrett said. "But the first 15 plays are an indicator of things we want to get to and things you're going to see in the game." | Re: Script dictates direction for Cowboys I think football is such a game of reaction, that is hard to script any thing...so Garrett is right. I mean if you develop 15 plays expecting a cover 2 defense, and the opponent is suddenly held bent on blitzing 15 times in a row...there goes the script.
