| New Wrinkle in same shirt There aren't many teams in the NFL with defensive packages that exclude perennial Pro Bowlers. And while the Cowboys certainly won't make a habit of that, there has been some attention made over the last week of safety Roy Williams not being included in a certain package designed to cover a three-receiver set Thanksgiving Day against the New York Jets. Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips, defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and even Williams, himself, have all said over the last two days that the situation is getting more attention than it deserves. Now Williams didn't stand on the sidelines for long. He entered the game on the next play and played nearly all of the defensive snaps in the Cowboys' 34-3 victory In fact, Williams said the coaching staff never really explained the new package to him, but added that it wasn't necessary. "I think you guys are making it bigger than what it is," Williams said. "It doesn't bother me. That's the package we have. Actually, I could've been on the field. Me and Ken (Hamlin) rotate on that package. It was the first play of the game and I said, 'Go ahead Ken, you take it.' We both can be on the field in that package at any time. That's it." Over the last two years, Williams has been criticized for his pass coverage, having been on the wrong end of a few big passing plays. But Phillips squashed the notion that this specific package is the first step in the Cowboys moving Williams out of the lineup, or that his starting job is in jeopardy. "He's a starter," Phillips said. "It's really the personnel (the Jets) had in the game. When playing someone like Favre, Williams knows the play is never over until he hears the whistle. "Never take your eyes off the receiver," Williams said when asked how to defend the Packers' offense. "Brett is very crafty and he's going to find a receiver, even if you think you've got him covered. You've got to be ready for the ball because he's going to try to stick the ball in there.
