Bledsoe headed to HOF

again i may be biased here cause i liked him when he was Pats QB

but look at the stats

with a couple more good yrs passing (which he will get with TO) he will go over 50,000 yards

and he has a SB ring

i think he will be in the HOF

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

Hmm... I was ready to laugh this off, but you may have a point.

Bledsoe is currently the Patriots career passing yardage (29,657) and touchdowns (166) leader. He owns the NFL record for most attempt in a season 691. He's a four-time Pro Bowler. He has more seasons with 370 or more completions than any other quarterback in history and he's one of just two NFL quarterbacks to complete 400 passes in a season. Furthermore, Bledsoe is one of just 10 QBs to ever throw for 40,000 yards, and he's already a member of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.

Should he be a Hall of Famer? Hmm... I wonder...

Cool Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

Early on his career I would have said yes...and though I am a Cowboy fan...I just don't see it yet...take a qb like Steve DeBerg...he put up some nice lifetime numbers...but no one would put him in the Hall...he is on that edge...and it remains to be seen how he will finish off his career in Dallas...this one is a toss up...

Cool Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

This is a case where Bledsoe simply compiled stats - just like Don Sutton in baseball. Since I would consider neither of these players "great" , I don't believe either deserve to be in their respective Hall oF Fames.

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

I agree with you, Pundit. I never gave Bledsoe a second thought about having a Hall of Fame career. But take away the career totals and you still have many impressive individual seasons, especially in terms of completion numbers. Then again, his attempts were rather high in those seasons as well. I think I'd lean more towards keeping him out, even with the impressive career numbers.

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

He has some nice stats (so does Testaverde) but I don't think there's a chance he makes it into the HOF. When he was the main QB, he lost the SB. He had a nice QTR or two in that AFC Champ game after Brady went down. He has great numbers because he has a great arm and can toss it all day. Still, there was a select amount of years where he was considered a top QB.

I don't see it.

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

i imagine no one here would question Marino should go to the hall, and im not saying he shouldnt

but i dont really see him as a great QB, all he did was compile #'s

hell he compiled great #'s with less of a running game and better recievers then bledsoe

and how many SB's did Marino win ? 0

Cool Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

Marino just didn't compile numbers. He shattered many individual season records and was the best at his position for an extended period. Bledsoe was never the best. I'm not knocking Bledsoe. He had a good career but he's not a hall of famer.

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

Does anybody here remember that historic Jets vs. Dolphins game when Marino made a last second pass to win the game? I think that the game I mentioned is enough to land him in the hall. Bledsoe (as much as I like him) is another story.

Cool Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

Man we are still at this one...Okay, lets change the question up...Pundit what will it take for Bledsoe to make it my man?...what if they take the Super Bowl this year...will it tip the scale any?...What if he puts up three more 4,000 yard +25 TD seasons?

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

i would like to revisit this if i may

i have brought along some evidence i hope may sway some of you

http://www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0775733.html this site shows the all time leading passers through 2005

notice Drew's location on the lists

NFL.com - Drew Bledsoe this site shows Drews individual stats total and by year

he is now 34, if he can do well with TO and Terry Glenn (which i think he can) he could have 3 more good starting years

with 3 good years of 3600 yards passing his total career passing yards would be 54,247 yards which would put him well into 3rd all time assuming Farve has another decent year

and with just 30 passing TDs a year for 3 more years he would have 334 TDs putting him well into 4th on that list

all in all id say very impressive

Would anyone conside Testaverde over Bledsoe for the Hall?

Vinny is 6th in yards, 6th in completes, and 8th in TDs. Can a case be made on the numbers?

Re: Bledsoe headed to HOF

After this season, barring injury, Vinny wont be ahead of Drew in any catagory except maybe TDs

and Drew has 1 Super Bowl appearance under his leadership, and another where he got a ring

and id say in a year or 2 with TO and the Tuna another may be possible

to me, Drew's positions on the all time
