Less T.O. ; More Owens

What a difference a year makes. From training camp antics, an accidental overdose and outlandish statements to a calm, collected, team-oriented player, T.O. seems to have made a 180. Who is this Terrell Owens guy and what did he do with the T.O. everybody loved to hate?
Absolutely nothing, according to the Cowboys' wide receiver.
"I've always been the same kind of guy in the locker room," Owens said,.....
But it's his approach to the game and to the team, he admits, that have changed this year.
"Mainly, (the reflection) was just to come in with a renewed sense of focus, and not urgency, but I knew in order for this team to get where it needs to be, I needed to play better. So going into games I try to bring my level of focus up and obviously it's been paying off."
His 2007 production leaves him among the NFC leaders. Owens is second in receiving yards, trailing only Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald by seven yards. And his six touchdown receptions have him tied for fourth in the conference.
Whether or not he's the "same person," a conscious shift has been made by Owens.
"For me, it's just trying to do the right thing," Owens said, "try to eliminate any distractions. I know that anything I say may turn this locker room upside-down. I'm just trying to be a team guy."

Quality, what are you not convinced of? Are you not convinced that he hasnt changed, at least somewhat? Or that its not going to last?
You still get the flavor of "I'm the greatest" in his talk and I am not sure whether he believes that or if its just a cover-up. But what you can believe is that he has realized that some of his behavior before was more harmful than helpful. And he is working on changing that.
Please dont tell me that you arent convinced he is one of the greatest receivers of all time.
(I said one of the, not the)

Re: Less T.O. ; More Owens

think I'll dip my toe in this water for a second or two.....

T.O. is not gone, just kickin' back taking it easy. I'm glad Terrell Owens has finally gotten some focus .. but he needs more. He still drops too many passes and I haven't seen a lot of enthusiasm in his route running when he isn't the target. Still, Terrell Owens is a much better player than T.O.!

As far as being one of the greatest of all time .. depends on how big your group is. Top 100 = maybe, Top 50 - probably not, Top 20 - not even in the same room!!!

Maybe, but if he keeps improving his focus, he will move higher up on your short list.

I view the situation as of Mt. St. Helens magnitude. Made some noise years ago, then settled down. People were warned somethin was not right and she would blow and boy did she. I feel the same about Owens as of right now.

nah, then we'll get into comparing eras and that just won't fly. but right now, he's definitely in the top 5 for 2007. how it shakes out after he's done playing we'll have to wait and see...

besides, he's one of my prize WRs on my fantasy teams... Braylon Edwayds is the other. (Randy Moss is on my Christmas wish-list, but I never get what I wish for...)
