| Dedication and versatility keep Jones starter Julius Jones is the starter, and that's not changing. Yet, fans, talk show hosts and some in the media believe the running back rotation between Jones and Marion Barber should end. Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field, Jones showed his versatility – which is why he continues as the starter – while catching passes and running the ball in the Cowboys' victory over the Eagles. "I think you guys forget about him. We don't," assistant head coach Tony Sparano said. "We know exactly what Julius brings to the table for us. This kid has made a lot of yards for us since he's been here. What I love about the kid is he accepts his role and doesn't say a word about it. He goes out every week and trains like a professional, and he does whatever we ask him to do." This season, the Jones-Barber rotation has produced 888 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. On Sunday night, Jones became the eighth running back in team history with 800 career carries. He has 812. | Re: Dedication and versatility keep Jones starter Barber is the guy you want to rough up the other teams defense the way he pounds the ball through. The little end zone performance is evident. He can wear down a defense. Jones though can do somewhat thne same thing but in different ways. He can run and catch the ball and go. Together they make a leathal combo.

When John Madden says Barber is one of the hardest running backs he's ever seen, that's something. And Barber is a scrapper, you just don't hit him and he falls down .. and if you get close enough he's got a wicked stiff arm!!! But he hasn't impressed the coaches enough to grab the starting spot. Jones on the other hand is more of a finesse runner. Yeah, he's tough, but his strength is his ability to adapt to conditions and find the seams. I'm continually surprised when they empty the pile, he's somehow at the front of it. And he's the better receiver of the two. So, while one will run around and by you, the other will run over you and bloody your nose in the process! A pretty good 1-2 punch... The thing the 'boys need to do is figure out an offense that uses BOTH backs! Then you'll see a team that's hard to beat!
