Cowboys reveal tenacity

Toughness is a job requirement in the NFL.
But there are different kinds of toughness.
There's the toughness Jason Witten showed on his 53-yard catch, picking up most of his yards after his helmet popped off in Sunday's win against Philadelphia. There's the toughness Andre Gurode showed when he continued to block after his helmet was knocked off, too.
There's also the kind of toughness that comes when the defense forces a fumble on the first play of the game, as it did Sunday when Bradie James pounced on a loose ball created by Marcus Spears.
There's the toughness the offensive line showed, grinding on Philadelphia's defense for four quarters as they have ground on teams all year. Julius Jones and Marion Barber combined for 113 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns. For the second time this season, Romo was not sacked, which was quite an accomplishment against an Eagles defense that had 24 sacks in the first seven games. There is the toughness that can bring a team closer together.
With 5:53 left in the third quarter, Eagles defensive end LaJuan Ramsey was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for spearing Julius Jones after an 11-yard catch. The entire offensive line ran to Jones' defense and started a little scrum with the Philadelphia defense.

"I think mental toughness, when you are behind, when things aren't going well, you keep going forward," Phillips said. "Keep positive, keep confident, all those things. There are two toughnesses, and I think we have both of those."
