Word was that Bill Parcells was real high on Ohio State LB Bobby Carpenter, and the Tuna's got his guy. Very intense linebacker, lots of upside. Should be a good fit with the Cowboy defense. Some fans might have wanted Manny Lawson, but personally I'm higher on Carpenter, and apparently Dallas was too. You like this pick, Cowboys fans?

Yep, I think this guy is a Bill Parcel type of player...no surprise here ...Cowboys have ont taken an Offense player since 1997 in round 1...

No surprise to you or me, Gotham, but apparently a surprise to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports, who projected the team taking OT Winston Justice of USC.

"Whoa. Huge surprise. Huge," Robinson writes. "Carpenter will likely have to be moved to the inside for the Cowboys in the 3-4 scheme. He doesn't fit on the outside from that set. Carpenter ran in the 4.6 range at Ohio State's pro day despite not being totally healthy. He's a great pursuit guy, but not a big hitter. One of the big questions is whether he can handle having to drop into pass coverage. Playing on the inside, that's not so much of a concern."

I dunno. I'm not shocked, and I kind of like the pick for Dallas. Justice would've been good too, but I don't feel as though Carpenter is a reach or anything. And as you point out, he is a Bill Parcells kind of guy.

I like Dallas's second pick - Anthony Fasano - a blocking TE. They really need to shore up the offensive line because Julius Jones is not much of a blocker and Bledsoe is immobile.

Not a bad point Pundit...I personally was hoping for White to be available for them in the 2nd round...
