Redskins wide receiver Brandon Lloyd implied today during a radio interview that Hall of Fame Cowboys quarterback and Fox broadcaster Troy Aikman is gay. Lloyd's comments included:

"I don't believe Troy Aikman anyway. He wasn't man enough to admit his personal life situation while he was a player.... So I have a tough time believing him. ... And there's nothing wrong with his personal life, you know, I have nothing wrong with, with.... Hey, I'm speculating too. Troy's speculating and I'm speculating."

In case there's any doubt that the "speculating" refers to sexual orientation, the hosts erased that doubt by bringing up rumors that Jeff Garcia is gay, to which Lloyd responded, "No, man, Garcia's not gay, he's my homeboy."

There were rumors (perpetuated by Skip Bayless, who at the time was a columnist in Dallas) that Aikman was gay during his time with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s.

I remember those rumors. I know Troy is now married, with at least one child. Not that you can't be gay, and be married, but I think it is just Brandon Lloyd being a jerk.

Isn't that the truth. My mother is a Troy fan, and she has told me all about it. She really used to get mad about those rumors!

Not to turn this tabloid, but she tells me the reason they broke up was Morgan can't have kids??? Either way, I think it's stupid. Most fans in the 90's would have liked to have had #8 as their QB, gay or not. I could care less.

There were rumors in Philly the Eric Lindros was gay. As long as he helps my team win, I really don't care.

As someone else pointed out, there are surely gay men playing the game right now, and I'm sure some of the stars of the sport are among them.

Probably even some hall of famers! Does it matter?? Not to me. Maybe the players in the locker room are uneasy with that, but again, not my issue. Just win.
