Cowboys coach Wade Phillips called the league office in New York to complain about coaches waiting to call timeout just before the ball is snapped during game-winning field goal attempts. Bills coach Dick Jauron did it Monday night just before Nick Folk drilled a 53-yarder. The kick was waved off, but Folk also nailed the second attempt as time expired, giving the Cowboys an improbable 25-24 victory. Oakland's Sebastian Janikowski and Cleveland's Phil Dawson had the same thing happen to them this season. Dawson's second kick was blocked, allowing Oakland to escape with a victory. Janikowski missed his rekick, paving the way for Denver's Jason Elam to kick a game-winning field goal in overtime. "I can't blame (coaches) for doing it because they are getting away with it, but I don't think its fair," Phillips said. "I didn't think its fair in the other two games when it happened when the guys missed it, and I didn't think it was fair in our game. If it was a 30-yard field goal, it's not too bad, but if you have to kick 50 something yards and you have to do it twice, you're putting a lot of energy into one kick and now you have to do it twice."
But Phillips said he wouldn't hesitate to ice the kicker in the same manner it was done to Folk. "I mean, I don't know why you wouldn't," he said. "It's unfair, but everybody is using an unfair rule against you." -- San Antonio Express News
