Re: Progress continues on New Stadium

At the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, the roof steel is provided by a Hispanic firm, the electrical wiring is from a business owned by women, and the fire-protection systems are provided by an African-American company.
These contracts are part of the team's promise to Arlington leaders to hire local minority business owners. And with construction on the $1 billion stadium almost half complete, the Cowboys are clearly on their way to meeting their goals for hiring minority- and women-owned business, local minority leaders say.

Re: Progress continues on New Stadium

The first of 5,071 signature glass panels was installed this week at the site of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, bringing the team's future home in Arlington one step closer to completion.
The 86-foot-high glass wall slopes outward at a 14-degree angle. Once completed, it will change in appearance because of a fritted, iridescent surface. Depending on the sun's location, atmospheric conditions and the viewing angle, the glass will vary in color from blue to light gray and silver.
The canted glass curtain is supported by more than 450,000 pounds of steel. Together, the panels weigh more than one million pounds.
Installation of the glass panels will take several months. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2009

Star-Telegram.com: | 02/16/2008 | Overhead, work crews are closing the gap
Work crews are closing the gap overhead. One hundred twelve feet is all that separates the two ends of the north arch. It will be completed by the end of the month.
There are 1200 workers on site daily.

That seems almost impossible to finish it by the end of the month, even with that many workers

I thought it wasn't supposed to be opened until 2010?

Actually, it is scheduled to open in 2009. This is the last year the Cowboys will be in Texas Stadium.
This is just one section bears. They have a long way to go, but progress is steady.

Re: Progress continues on New Stadium

The parallel structures will support the roof and allow a 160ft. x 72ft. video board to hang above midfield.
The stadium is about 55% completed.
