With Goodell announcing Bill Belichick's punishment yesterday, Wilson's got some questions:

... Wilson said he intends to write a letter to the league office seeking an explanation for what he considers inconsistent enforcement of NFL policy. Wilson also said he might attempt to determine whether he can appeal his five-game suspension.

"I would say there is definitely a double standard being applied here," Wilson said. "I don't want to be seen as a crybaby or as someone questioning the commissioner's decision, but I see some major inconsistencies here.

Anybody think he has a point here?

"I did something wrong, but I did it only to benefit myself, not to gain a competitive advantage," Wilson said. "I accepted my punishment and moved on, but this is kind of a different deal. The percentage of my salary that I was fined is substantially more than the percentage he was fined as far as I can tell. I mean, $500,000 is nothing to laugh at -- but neither is $100,000. The punishment is definitely not the same in my opinion... I can kind of see where he's coming from, but the answer's pretty clear - the banned substance rules are going to be enforced more harshly than the videotaping rules. That's why Wilson's punishment is harsher. Plus, whatever he says, he didn't have a good reason for doing it, he's change his excuse and there's still the lingering suspicion (though it can't be proven) that he was distributing it.

Goodell was on Football America last night and he said that the diff was that what Wilson did was against the law. Because he is a coach, he is held to a higher standard than the player that was also suspended.

And I disagree with you about not having a good reason for doing it.

Well, for "that problem" he could've easily gotten other medications, legally, you know? Our forum doesn't like it when you write out their names, but one's a little blue pill that starts with a 'V' and the other's the topic of those Smilin' Bob commercials. And a little part of me just died because I just realized I'm sitting here on a sports forum talking about this stuff.

Yeah, Lefty I know what you are talking about. But if you go back and check the thread I made on Wilson's Delicate Dilemna, you will see that those legal meds didnt work. For some diabetics, they are unsuccessful.
That was what happened in this case.

Oh heck, I guess cheating is not against the law...I mean, the Pats probably owe Vegas odds maker an explanation and all, but ya know...not against the law in the grand scheme of things...lol...yeah, well its the worse of the two for the NFL so the punishment should be harder on the Patsies...

Okay, I missed that. Sorry. Hmm... I wonder. Anyway you look at it, what he did was illegal. That said, it doesn't appear to have had any impact on the game (his game, maybe, but not the Cowboys game) while Belichick's did. So I guess I'm starting to come around to the dark side on this one. As long as the NFL was confident he wasn't distributing, and it sure sounds like that was the case, the suspesion was uncalled for because it did not directly impact football. The punishment was too stiff.
