| Cowboys not the same with gimpy Newman
The Cowboys think they are locked and loaded for a Super Bowl defense run, mainly because of their talent and Phillips' 3-4 defensive scheme. Terence Newman's health puts a wrinkle in that plan.
Phillilps' defense is based on putting pressure on the quarterback with good pursuit upfront and good one-on-one coverage in the secondary.
Newman is the type of high caliber cornerback who takes away an area of the field because quarterbacks believe it is best not to mess with him.
Newman from 100% to 70 is a big drop in production. More playing time for Aaron Glenn is an even bigger drop yet.
