| Cowboys lose to in-state rivals, the Texans The Cowboys don't play well at Houston. The worst was the 2002 opener when the Cowboys were outplayed by the expansion Texans in their inaugural game. The next when they were shut-out by them in the 2004 exhibition opener. In spite of playing their starters for 3 quarters, they were soundly beat by the Texans Saturday night, 28-16. The Cowboys struggled out of the gate. The offense looked flat the first quarter. The defense gave up some plays in the second quarter and special teams had some major problems too. "I didnt see many good things on our part tonight," Coach Phillips said. "This is the first time we have been in a hostile environment and we didnt react well. Our players learned tonight that if the other team is more intense than you are, then you are losing the edge..." It seemed the Texans were more intense than the Cowboys. The offense went three and out to start, prompting a punt return for 91 yards for a touchdown by the Texan rookie Jacoby Jones, who had a punt return for a touchdown last week at Arizona. Dallas entered this week as NFL's top-ranked rushing defense, allowing just 42.0 yards per game on the ground. But Houston racked up 142 yards on the Cowboys averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Cowboys also had 7 penalties for 48 yards. DallasCowboys.com - News
