| Cowboy Running Back Debate Heats Up Fans want a change. They want Marion Barber to be the starter. The 6ft. 221 lb. Barber goes for straight ahead running. He relishes contact and rarely goes down with the first hit. Jones relies more on speed and quickness, but the 5ft.10, 208 lb. back has trouble getting through the hole and is more likely not to survive the initial contact. Even though Barber is the fans' favorite, both head coach Wade Phillips and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett seem to keep things the way they are. That is, with Jones at starter and give way to Barber in short yardage and red zone settings. But Garrett hinted Barber might get more action outside red zone and on first and second downs. Tyson Thompson could also be added to the mix. MySA.com: MySanAntonio: Dallas Cowboys

| Re: Cowboy Running Back Debate Heats Up This is a no-brainer in my book. Barber's a hard runner, gains more yards after contact AND hits the hole quicker. Those are the top three things I'd want to see in my running back. I have no idea why Phillips is so slow in making the change - the Minnesota grad has earned that starting role, no doubt in my mind.
