Greatest Cowboy Of All Time

well this could cause a bit of a debate ......... or we all could agree for a change ?

who would you consider to be the greatest Dallas Cowboy of all time ?

one of the triplets ....... TO ........ Tom Landry ........ Tony Dorsett ..... Roger Staubach ........ or maybe someone else ?

Re: Greatest Cowboy Of All Time

Yeah, Landry was a great coach. Classy guy too.

But I've got to go with the NFL's all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith. That dude was a warrior!

Roger the Dodger...a classy winner...a thinking man's quarterback, and my favorite player of all time...Landry's Super Bowls came on his watch.

Cool Re: Greatest Cowboy Of All Time

Great question:

I would say Staubach - with Emmitt and Dorsett, and Harvery Martin not far behind.

Thumbs up Re: Greatest Cowboy Of All Time

ALL OF THE ABOVE and then some.
My first pick is probably Dallas's first pick in the draft that year and their first Hall of Famer, Bob Lilly. For sheer class and toughness, Emmit. Staubach was great. I kind of have a special place in my heart for Deon. Then there was Tony Dorsett, and Aikman was the quarterback for their Super Bowl years.

Not too many outstanding ones after that but I have high hopes for Demarcus Ware.

GO COWBOYS!!!!

Now how can you say that? Chuck Howley, Lee Roy Jordan, Mel Renfro, Bob Hayes, Pearson, the duo of Charlie Waters and Cliff Harris...plenty of great ones to pick from...Randy White too...

The Cowboys cowboy, Walt Garrison....

Re: Greatest Cowboy Of All Time

You guys are probably getting used to me by now, but I've got an obscure selection, a "homer" choice. He'll probably never make the HOF, or even the Cowboys Ring of Honor but, ... .

Raised on the Waianae Coast, and the younger brother of an established star-athlete, I'm going to go with Mark Tuinei.

The ex-Warrior "walked on" to the Cowboys (FA tryout) as a defensive lineman. He was in fact, the only Cowboy listed throughout his career as both, a DL-man and OL-man. He came in for an injured Randy White in one game and logged 11-tackles. Only one of 2 players from Tom Landry's days (the other Bill Bates), he went on to anchor the Left Tackle spot on 3 SB teams. In an interview once, Emmit Smith commented that Tuinei was the guy in the locker room that nobody messed with - he was the bull.

In Hawaii, we refer to them as "the Quadruplets" - with Tuinei being the 4th. His older brother Tom played briefly for the Lions and the CFL. His premature death was devasting to the fans of Hawaii - some still haven't gotten over it.
