Re: T.O Likes Coaching Change Van Nuys, Calif.: I ran across this story being circulated by the AP about Terrell Owens, and I just wanted to know your thoughts on it. I read all of the T.O. transcript on DallasCowboys.com and then I compared it to what's making the rounds. Here is some of the misrepresentation they use. AP wrote, "With Parcells gone, Owens apparently couldn't get wait to get back on the field." But T.O. actually said for why he participated in the mini-camp: "Come out here and try to get a little work, get back to the team atmosphere. I think everybody is kind of excited about this season. If I wasn't ready (to practice), then I wasn't going to practice." How can they do that? Are they allowed to alter things with no repercussion? They also shortened parts of statements to make them look worse. Like this one: "Everybody knows (Wade Phillips is) a laid-back coach, obviously a little different than Bill." But the rest was, "I don't think you have to be a disciplinarian to get your point across," Owens said. "I think having a new head coach is good for everybody." Seriously, how is it that they can run stories like this, and not get in any kind of trouble from the player, owner, or league? I hope the majority of the Cowboys fans realize just how much of this stuff is altered. It's funny, if anything, they made me like T.O. rather than hate him. Mickey: Well, well, maybe know you guys understand why last year at this time I told you to get your T.O. filters out. This happens all the time, and is one of the reasons we decided to just run the transcript from T.O.'s press conference so you would know all of what he said, instead of someone's interpretation or slanted opinion of what he said. See, the beauty of AP many times, is that there rarely is a byline. Just says "AP," so chances are the players don't really know who wrote the story. But just glad you were paying attention, and it was you making the point, not me. And think of this: If it's that easy to alter the meaning of a quote in print, just think what you can do on TV with the use of a computer editing taped words. There is a trust factor at times out there violated by reporters for the sake of a headline.

Re: T.O Likes Coaching Change Julius Jones is relieved, Marcus Spears, and Bradie James are very enthused about the change. James says Phillips isnt laid back, just more laid back than Bill. The locker room talk is excited and "giddy" for both offense and defense. Lefty has it. It wasnt ALL T.O. last year.

See now, and no one believed me last year when I was saying TO was not really the problem... |

Okay. The players are giddy. Now let's see them make the playoffs and advance passed the first round. Well Julius Jones should be giddy. If I averaged 3 yards a carry the last 10 games, I might be looking to blame the coach, too. In football, the "players" coaches can only take you so far. The disciplanarians, like Parcells, Belicek, Cowher, are the ones that usually fare much better. Sure, once in a while, they win like Dick Vermeil, but overall it's not the case. Also, I can find 10 players for every 1, who love Parcells...and winners, too - not like these crying Dallas players.....Phill Simms, LT, Curtis Martin....etc.... So Dallas better get close to the Super Bowl. They have no more excuses.

Re: T.O Likes Coaching Change 1. Bill Parcells IS a great coach. Some think he failed because he didnt advance this team farther but I dont. He turned this team around but maybe that is as far as he could get them. He is definitely a hall of famer and no one blames him for the team's failure to produce. Not even the present team. (I have heard Phil Sims talk about his relationship with his former coach and he is still scared to death of him.) But his old players respect him and so does this team, including T.O. 2. The point was that just maybe T.O. wasnt the only one with an attitude problem. Thats all it was. 3. Yeah, they better produce this year!
