Drew Bledsoe cut

With Tony Romo firmly entrenched as the Dallas Cowboys' starting QB, the team parted ways with last season's opening day starter, Drew Bledsoe. According to the AP, "Bledsoe, the first overall pick in the 1993 draft by New England, started 193 games in the NFL, including the first six in 2006 before he was replaced by Tony Romo, who then earned a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl team. Bledsoe was due a $1 million roster bonus Friday and would have made $4.5 million next season." So was cutting him a good move?

Re: Drew Bledsoe cut

I don't know if good is the right word, but fair probably is. He did his best for them. and it will allow him a chance to get a starting job with another team. I wish him the best of luck!

Re: Drew Bledsoe cut

It was a good move. He was not going to be the starter in Dallas, and 4.5 for a back up is pretty steep. He will get another starting job, but he will most likely not get on a contender again. He is past his prime.

Cool Re: Drew Bledsoe cut

I don't know if he'll get a starting job, but would be a great veteran backup to have around. But I don't think that Bledsoe wants to be a backup. So it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.
