The defensive problem with the Cowboys was after Greg Ellis got injured for the season, they had no pass rush. The DE's stink. Canty and Spears only had 1 sack each. The Cowboys need to upgrade that position - big time

I actually like the hire, and the only other person that I would have considered is Mike Singletary. I may sound like a broken record, but Dallas ran the blandest 3-4 in the league last year and needed to go out and get someone to correct that issue. Phillips has proven that he is a top five mind when it comes to the 3-4.

I think he got a lot of unfair criticism for his work in Buffalo, as that team was aging and he was taking over for a legend.
