Former Cowboys linebacker Dat Nyguyen is talking to the Cowboys about joining the coaching staff, according to sources. Nguyen interviewed with the University of Houston about becoming an assistant coach a few weeks ago. If Nguyen, who played with the Cowboys from 1999 to 2005, is hired by the Cowboys it will occur after a head coach is hired.

Interesting, i'm sure Dat would be a positive influence for our linebacking corp,the Cowboy's are definately short of assistant position coaches right now.Dat was a very good hard working middle linebacker, issue him a whistle!

Nguyen was hired yesterday, but as an assistant linebackers coach, along with offensive assistant coach Wesley Phillips (yes, Wade's son). Additionally, inside LBs coach Vincent Brown is leaving Dallas, while Tennessee wide receivers coach Ray Sherman is expected to join the Cowboys staff in the same capacity. Your thoughts?

He's also a "quality control" coach. In other words, he does the grunt film cut up. ALmost all first year coaches have to do that job.
