Michael Irvin Hall of Fame

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Irvin was one of six players named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame today. According to the Associated Press, "Irvin finished his career with 750 receptions for 11,904 yards and 65 touchdowns. He was selected to five straight Pro Bowls and picked for the NFL's all-decade team of the 1990s." So is Irvin a deserving Hall of Famer?

He changed the game...he was big and physical and made them change rules because of the way he played and man handled the corners...HOFer all the way...only question is his character...he was the pre-TO TO...

Mike gets in 'cause the votes should only be for what the player did on the field and not off of the field.....I agree his character is in question because of the off the field issues....but he did earn his way in.....'on-the-field'

Yep, agree with you both. You only count the on the field things, and Irvin was like Lawrence Taylor -- definite character issues, but a very talented player on the field and most worthy of being in the Hall of Fame.

Cool Re: Michael Irvin Hall of Fame

Welcome the Frenchman. I actually think Irvin could have gone either way. I personally, never thought he was "great." But I also don't have a major problem with it...

Re: Michael Irvin Hall of Fame

Irvin was great because of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith. Irvin always had the charisma with his mouth and that made him stand out. Being good and having a voice helped him. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I wouldn't vote for him because of character. If that were the case, I know several I couldn't let in that I already would.

Re: Michael Irvin Hall of Fame

Anyone out there think Bob Hayes should have gone in ahead of Irvin?
