Hey Cowboys Mike Shula is available.......

He works really cheap and he can get you a little respect and possibly win a few games in the post season. He is used to the abuse that TO would give him and losing doesn't seem to bother him, so Romo wouldn't have to worry about losing his job. Then Jerry might get Don to come in and help for free... after all Daddy doesn't want his boy exposed to a mean bunch of people like those Alabama fans.

I was wondering when someone was going to bring up the poor coach that got kicked out of Alabama...

Well Mike needs a job and there is an opening, he has to be better than Norv Turner or Wade Phillips.

Well everyone knows that Jerry Jones really wants Garrett to be head coach in a couple of years. That is why Shula would be perfect he knows he's gonna get dumped but accepts it with style and class.

Don't know if Garrett will be the answer in Dallas as offensive cordinator or head coach for that matter Stoney, but i like what i'm hearing in NFL coaching's circle's about Jason and think he's a good fit in Dallas, especially with his familiarity with Jerry Jones and the organization.I would like to see Norv Turner or Ron Rivera get the H.C position at Dallas and Mike Singletary , Wade Phillip's as D.C.

The Jag's like Mike Shula though,

Mike Shula is Jaguars' QBs coach

From Miami Herald Wire Services

TIDE TENURE: New Jaguars assistant Mike Shula was 26-23 in four seasons at Alabama.

Former Alabama coach Mike Shula was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday.
Coach Jack Del Rio and Shula reached a deal at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, and the team expected a contract to be signed early next week.
Shula, a son of former Dolphins coach Don Shula, went 26-23 in four years at Alabama, but was 0-8 against Southeastern Conference West Division rivals Louisiana State and Auburn.
The Crimson Tide finished 10-2 under Shula in 2005, but Shula was fired in November after the team went 6-6 during the regular season.

Peace out WareWolfe.

As it stands right now, given the possibilities that are being presented as the most likely options, I would like to see Dallas bring in Wade Phillips. That's assuming Jones can hang onto Tony Sparano. We need some continuity between last year's offense - which was very good - and this year's offense, which will be under the direction of Jason Garrett in one way or another. Since Garrett is an ex-QB who has also coached QB's, he should also be good for Romo. That leaves Phillips to create a defense that dominates, and he should be able to do that because he has a lot of good material to work with.

It wouldn't be the sexiest of hires, and if you'd ask me about that possibility a few weeks ago, I probably would've been fairly pessimistic. But after hearing what so many players and coaches are saying about Jason Garrett, I think he could be a very good asset for the Cowboys, and pairing him up with an experienced 3-4 guy who has done an excellent job in creating disruptive defenses, just might be the winning combination.

Would Wade Phillips be a good choice?

I don't know. Phillips has won about 55% of his games as a head coach. Not really sure that's what the Cowboys are looking for.

Jerry Jones reminds me of the Emperor from Star Wars he is always manuplating someone to the darkside. He had it all with Jimmy Johnson and he will never be able to recapture the magic. Until the cowboys get a new owner you can expect the same thing over and over again. A Herschel Walker deal only comes by once in a lifetime. Jerry seems to have forgotten that.

Yeah, I agree... I think maybe he finally realizes parting ways with Johnson was a huge mistake. That's why he's trying to bring back a guy like Norv Turner, and Garrett as an assistant... all guys left from the most recent Cowboys dynasty. He is, as you say, Stoney, trying to "recapture the magic" of that era.

In this case, I wouldn't go with a rookie head coach. IF the Cowboys improve their defensive line, they can make a run at the Super Bowl right now. I would go with Wade Phillips. He's the best available candidate right now.

From Blogging the Boys: They have to fill a bunch of assistant coaching spots also.
Quote:
The New York Giants have hired Chris Palmer as their quarterbacks coach, giving Eli Manning a new mentor for 2007.
The highly-respected Palmer served last year as the Dallas Cowboys' quarterbacks coach. He was granted permission last week to meet with Giants' officials, and his addition to Tom Coughlin's staff will be officially announced early in the week.

Let's check out where we stand in terms of assistants.

Offensive coordinator: Jason Garrett, unless he becomes the head coach, which seems more unlikely as time passes.
Defensive Coordinator: Mike Zimmer has left making this the #1 priority on the shopping list.
Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line/Running Game: Tony Sparano is still supposedly in the head coach mix. The Cowboys need him on staff this year.
Special Teams: Bruce DeHaven is in Seattle, do I hear Steve Hoffman's name in our future, at least for the kickers?
Wide Receivers/Passing Game: Todd Haley left for Arizona, open position.
Secondary: Todd Bowles is supposedly in the head coach mix, but not really. He's more in line for a possible promotion to defensive coordinator.
Quarterbacks Coach: Chris Palmer is leaving, see above.
Linebackers: Paul Pasqualoni is still here.
Strength and Conditioning: Joe Juraszek is still here.
Safeties: Mike MacIntyre is not signed for 2007.
Defensive Line: Kacy Rodgers is still here I guess, I haven't heard any different.
Running Backs: Anthony Lynn left for Cleveland, open position.
Tight Ends: Freddie Kitchens is still here, I guess.
Middle Linebackers: Vincent Brown was a Parcells Guy, I don't know what his future is under the new regime.
Offensive Quality Control (Tutor to Romo): David Lee bolted for Arknasas.
