Parcells to Retire

Bill Parcells has decided that he will retire from the NFL, leaving a Hall of Fame career. Everyone knows Parcells' impressive résumé, so I am more interested in the future. Where do the Cowboys go?

If I am the Cowboys, I look real hard at Mike Singletary. He is marquee name that Jerry Jones may be looking for, but he is a special coach from what I have seen as well. He was a coach for the Senior Bowl last year and I really liked what I saw. He was fiery when he needed to be, but seemed like a coach that players could respond to. He has experience coaching the 3-4, so it doesn't require a schematic overhaul either. By all accouts, Singletary is a rising star in the coaching profession, so I say the Cowboys do everything in their power to attain his services.

Then again, I'm not Jerry Jones.

Just saw this too...here's a link to the AP Story

Shocked me, I thought he was coming back.

Do they look at Russ Grimm?

Re: Parcells to Retire

Yeah, I'm with you, Empire. But maybe he's finally had enough. Seems like he's been burnt out for a while now. As far as his replacement... any chance they still try to go after Jeff Fisher? Rumor has it Jones has had his eye on the Titans coach for quite a while now. I know it'd cost compensation, but is it worth it to the Dallas owner?

Re: Parcells to Retire

Personally, I would go after a defensive mind. The pieces of the 3-4 are already in place, the scheme just needs polishing. So, my list of candidates would seriously start with Mike Singletary.

Cool Re: Parcells to Retire

That's too bad. I really thought Parcells should have come back for one more year. This team is only a defensive end and a safety away from competing for the championship.

Re: Parcells to Retire

i think dallas needs to go for an offensive minded coach, there is no reason that we should have had a better offense in '05 than '06. with all the weapons we have, we should have been one of the best in the league. granted we lost sean payton as the coordinator, but we need someone who can utilize all the talent we have. i think Jim mora would have been nice, but its too late for him. my dream would be to have jimmy johnson back...lol

Re: Parcells to Retire

I'm ready for some new blood at the head coaching position .Parcell's was mentally drained and burned out...it was time for his departure imo.Been hearing Wade Phillip's name coming up alot.....good aggressive 3-4 defensive minded coach outta Diego....ex q.b back-up Jason Garrett's name is being mentioned in circle's as a candiate for offensive cordinator....interesting.Don't know who Jerry and Stephen Jone's will bring in but i welcome the change.

Peace out.WareWolfe.
