| and now the serious reply Cheers all. How much credit can Jimmie Johnson take for the Cowboys' 1990s success? All of it. Or at least 50%; the other half was Herschel Walker. Jimmie told Jerry Jones, "Let me trade Herschel Walker and i'll build you a team." Walker got him thirteen players, including seven high draft picks, one player traded and one player waived. Jimmie essentially hand-picked who he liked from the Vikings' roster and the NCAA. It seems to me that he was essentially trying to duplicate the college game's recruiting and building process, for that's where he'd been numero uno. This is also the reason he couldn't go all the way with some pretty talented Miami squads; he had to deal with a team that wasn't his. Ah, those Jimmie teams at Dallas...it was a pleasure to watch them grow. The first year they went 1-15 and Jones apparently was taking his medication. The following year they were 10-6, bowed out in the playoffs, but everyone knew they'd be back with a vengeance; the only time i've ever seen a team generally optimistic after a playoff loss. And then the Super Bowls. For those teams alone, Jimmie deserves a spot in the Hall. Think the old Bills are still bruised?
