Greg Ellis might be back

I know it looked like the eight-year veteran defensive end was going to be leaving Dallas, but it seems as though Greg Ellis might have had a change of heart.

At least, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, which is reporting that "Ellis' agent said he has spoken with Cowboys coach Bill Parcells with news that would be pleasing to his client."

Ellis is averaging more than 6.5 sacks and 50 tackles per season, and has had at least 8 sacks during each of the past three seasons. Plus, he hasn't missed a game since 2002. Dallas would do well to keep him around.

Thumbs up Whew

Good to hear about Ellis. He may not be spectacular, but he's good and reliable, and as Woody Allen (?) once said, 90% of everything is showing up. The Pokes need to keep their vets as a core that they can build a new Super Bowl quality team around. They've gotten a good start with folks like Tony Henry and Terence Newman, but there are still slots to fill. Maybe they can pick up Jerry Azumah?
