Starting strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh will have surgery this week on his broken right thumb and could miss up to four weeks, Phillips said.
Sensabaugh was injured in the first quarter against Denver and was replaced by Patrick Watkins, who finished with six tackles.
Sensabaugh suffered the same injury when he played at North Carolina and had a plate inserted, which Phillips said will be the case again. Sensabaugh returned a week later the first time he injured his thumb.
"He thinks he can do the same thing," Phillips said. "It depends on how the surgery goes. He has experience with it. He's positive about it, but we'll see."
