Cowboys Stadium will host the elite of the Professional Bull Riders tour next year for a competition that will have the largest single-day prize for the winner.
The Iron Cowboy Invitational will be held Feb. 20, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and PBR representatives announced Friday in a news conference at the stadium. Tour officials plan to sell 65,000 tickets, which will cost between $20 and $150.
"We will become one of the showcases for professional bull riding," Jones said.
In turn, he said he hopes the new invitational will raise the profile of the bull riding tour, which already draws about 2 million fans each year. The event's unusual format includes a bracket-style tournament similar to NCAA basketball's Final Four, with the final two competitors each riding the same bull. First prize could range from $260,000 to $360,000.
