By now it should be apparent that the standards established by the top-ranked UConn women are higher than most. Think Mount Everest and raise it a snow bank. And because of that, not everything is as it appears.

Take Wednesday's 71-48 victory over South Florida at the XL Center that brought UConn's record to 20-0 and featured big games by freshman Maya Moore (23 points) and junior Renee Montgomery (21).

Below the surface of this seemingly effortless rout was enough bad karma to sour the mood of the players and their persnickety coach.
