| Jackets' Leclaire Playing Well for Canada Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire likely will start a world hockey championships semifinal if Team Canada wins today in the quarterfinals. Jackets and Team Canada coach Ken Hitchcock said Carolina goaltender Cam Ward will play against Norway this afternoon as the knockout round begins in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Hitchcock has been alternating his goalies from the start of the tournament. Team Canada is 6-0. Leclaire is 3-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and a shutout. He helped the Canadians defeat Finland 6-3 in a battle of unbeatens Monday. If Canada advances, it will play Friday against the Sweden-Czech Republic winner. "Pazzy has been great, he played really well against Finland," Hitchcock said by phone. "We'll probably stay with our rotation. It's worked well so far. "This experience is really going to benefit Pazzy for next season." Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash is Team Canada's second-leading scorer behind linemate Dany Heatley. Nash has three goals and seven assists. Jason Chimera has only one assist, but Hitchcock said the Jackets left winger is coming off his best game against Finland. Team Canada will be without forward Eric Staal for Wednesday's game as he attends his grandfather's funeral. |
