| Voracek done for the season The Blue Jackets' top junior prospect Jakub Voracek will not join the Syracuse Crunch for the remainder of its playoff run. Jackets general manager said Sunday that he and Voracek -- the franchise's top pick in last year's draft -- agreed to call it a season. And what a season it was. The winger registered 33 goals and 68 assists in 53 games for Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Voracek was fourth in league scoring. His team was knocked out in the first round of the playofrs. Howson said there was thought of sending the right wing to Syracuse, but that it's been a long season and he's a little "banged up." A couple/few more updates: -- Howson said goaltender Steve Mason already has begun rehabbing his injured knee after arthroscopic surgery last week. He's supposed to be sidelined from four to six weeks. -- Syracuse, has taken a 3-2 series lead against Manitoba in its best-of-7 series. Howson is headed to Syracuse for Game 6. Center Derick Brassard scored a goal and added two assists in a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 5. Dude is on fire. -- Gilbert Brule is really struggling. He's pointless and a minus-3 in five games. -- LW Rick Nash arrived in Quebec City today. He'll begin practice on Monday and is status for the early stages of the World Championship should be considered questionable |

| Re: Voracek done for the season he had surgery to remove a piece of tonsile that was missed when he had his original surgery a couple of years ago. Doctors thought he would be ok but it kept flaring up and made it very difficult to breathe at times. From what I hear it's a pretty painful surgery to have once you are an adult! |
