| Hitchcock set to unveil "top secret" weapon... Four days without a game has given Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock too much time to think.
It has given the Jackets' Western Conference opponents too much time to pull away in the standings, too. The Jackets are seven points out of the playoffs.
As a result, Hitchcock plans to work a new wrinkle into the game plan for the final 12 games.
"We've gotten at least a point in six of our last eight games," he said. "And we haven't made up any ground (in the standings).
"We've got to get two points out of these games that are so close. Two points, not one point."
That's all Hitchcock would divulge, leaving one to wonder whether the typically conservative coach wasn't considering a go-for-it approach in games in which the Blue Jackets are tied or trailing.
What could that mean?
"Top secret," Hitchcock said, with a smile.
In fact, Hitchcock said the first 30 minutes of today's practice in Nationwide Arena would be closed to the media. .....hmmmm! Any ideas anyone?! |
