COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Out of the playoff picture, the Blue Jackets goal is to play with character. A trait they've had trouble finding lately.
Jason Chimera scored his career-high 15th goal with 2:47 left to help the Blue Jackets end a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over Flames on Friday night. Nikolai Zherdev also scored for Columbus.

Well there is a worth while goal...and a new slogan..."Columbus we play with character"...none of that "we play to win"...or we play for a playoff spot...or...geez..."we play with character"...should be on the cover of the Media guide next year.

Seriously, though, Gotham. I'm an Ohio guy, though not a big Blue Jackets fan. Yet it pains me to see one of the Buckeye State sports franchises struggling so. Please, give me some "light at the end of a tunnel" news... something - anything - for this franchise to build upon for the future.

I hope Columbus hangs on patiently. A few years from now, who knows? Look at Phoenix, Tampa Bay, the Sharks. teams that were new and starting and surprisingly figured out how to kick a**.

And I'll have you know, the fluffy white bear is not part of our slogan.
