It happens...sometimes you play well and the other team's goalie gets hot. Even the Blackhawks can get lucky sometimes.


CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks and goalie Nikolai Khabibulin both got their timing back in a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night. Kyle Calder broke a tie with a third-period goal and Khabibulin made 33 saves -- including stopping a second-period penalty shot -- as Chicago snapped a three-game losing streak.

Despite that, Rick Nash is still going strong and Zherdev is also doing well.Nash had a power-play goal at 7:40 of the third tied it at 2. Planting himself at the edge of the crease, he swatted in Zherdev's centering pass. Nash now has 20 goals this year. He has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in his last 12 games. ... Zherdev has 5 goals and 3 assists in the last 7 games. Rookie Defense Aaron Johnson, who we have been following since his March 2nd call up is +4 in the last 3 games and has increased his playing time from 15 minutes a night to 20 minutes last night...on the bad side of things Center Jan Hrdina has a broken toe and is listed day to day.

Losing to Chicago is a bad break. Khabibulin has NOT been hot lately (lately? or this year - what happened to him?). It sucks to lose to the winners but it really hurts to lose to the ones who suck more than you.

Khabibulin got hot at the wrong time that's all...We are a "developing fanchise"... ...so I try to look at the positives...Nash and Zherdev are still scoring...the goalie has been decent of late...rookies are developing nicely...and 2008 will be our year ...Chicago on the other hand is stuck in a rut...
