| (from www.bluejackets.com) The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Aaron Johnson on an emergency basis from the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced Thursday. Johnson, 22, has appeared in three games with the Blue Jackets this season, tallying 1-1-2 including the game-winning goal Nov. 26 at the St. Louis Blues. The Port Hawkesbury, NS native has played in 49 AHL games with Syracuse, already setting career-highs in points and assists with 5-24-29. His 29 points rank tied for 18th in the AHL in points by a defenseman. Columbus' fourth pick, 85th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, Johnson has recorded 3-7-10 in 32 career NHL games and 17-56-73 in 175 career AHL contests. Is this a good thing?...who knows?...I mean the guy was having a career year in the AHL, but it is an emergency basis thing...so its not like he pushed his way onto the roster right?...Hey but I am hopping on the bandwagon now, just on the off, off, off chance I can say I told you so later...so here it is..."This kid Aaron Johnson, best 4th round pick Columbus ever made in the draft...mark my words."....No?, Yes?, Maybe?...we will see as we start the "Aaron Johnson Watch!"... |

| Talent Analysis With excellent vision, crisp passing and an ability to get his shots through from the point, Johnson’s best facet could very well be his quick transitional game, which he’s easily managed to adjust to the professional level. Future With strong offensive flair, Johnson may very well be the team’s best chance at a power play quarterback this season. Poised to make a strong push to skate on the Blue Jackets blue line after a locked out 2004-05 season, defenseman Aaron Johnson isn’t about to take the chance lightly. After playing in over one-third of Columbus’ games in 2003-04 and recording eight points, he should again see at least as many games. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect/aaron_johnson See now, here is the scouting report on the kid curtesy of the above mentioned site...I'm telling you folks...best 4th round pick in Blue Jacket history...the kid is going places. |
