Blue Jackets - Flames

The Calgary Flames try to avoid their longest losing streak in nearly four years when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

Calgary hopes to avoid the dubious mark as it faces a Columbus club in search of its second win in eight games.

The Flames (3-7-1) managed only 15 shots in a 3-2 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday for their third loss in a row.
They have not lost four consecutive games since Jan. 9-14, 2003, during the last season the Flames failed to qualify for the playoffs

Okay, see, this one should be a walk in the park...if we can't take the Flames at this stage...well...we don't belong in the league.

Why are we losing lately?

The Blue Jackets are struggling on the power play, going 1-for-25 in the last four games.

That's why...we have no power play...

Re: Blue Jackets - Flames

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Manny Malhotra scored in the 11th shootout round to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 5-4 victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night.

After Columbus goaltender Pascal Leclaire smothered Chuck Kobasew's shot, Malhotra skated down the middle of the ice and wristed a hard shot between Jamie McLennan's leg pads.

The Blue Jackets, who failed on four earlier chances to win the shootout, surrounded a smiling Malhotra to congratulate him and Leclaire.
It was the second-longest shootout this season. The New York Rangers beat Philadelphia in the 13th round on Oct. 7.
David Vyborny had two goals, Sergei Fedorov had a goal and an assist, and Ron Hainsey and Fredrik Modin each had two assists for Columbus, which had lost six of seven. The Blue Jackets improved to 8-2-1 at home in the series against Calgary. Duvie Westcott also had a goal.

Geez, not so easy, but an OT win is an OT win...we will take it...and good to see Fedorov back in the mix...we need him.
