| Re: Air Force at Colorado State CSU hopes to salvage season heading into AFA game October 28, 2009 9:31 AM BY JAKE SCHALLER THE GAZETTE Colorado State’s quick turnaround under second-year coach Steve Fairchild has hit a speed bump in recent weeks. After winning their last three games of the 2008 season to finish 7-6 and starting the 2009 campaign 3-0, the Rams have lost five straight. “We’re disappointed with our play,” the straight-shooting Fairchild said Tuesday. The Rams have been hurt by some key injuries, but they’ve also run up against a difficult section of their schedule. In the past five weeks they’ve faced the Mountain West Conference’s “Big Three” of BYU, No. 8 TCU and No. 19 Utah along with an Idaho team that is 6-2. CSU hopes to salvage season heading into AFA game | hopes, afa, salvage - Sports - Colorado Springs Gazette, CO CSU Rams started out 3-0 and one of those against rival Colorado Buffaloes but have lost 5 in a row since. Air Force is now 4-4 losing a heartbreaker last week in OT to ranked Utah Utes. The Falcons 4 losses came by 7 points or less. This is an in-state rivalry and should be a close game but feel the Falcons will win here in a close game in cold weather. Prediction: Air Force 24 CSU 21 Anybody like the Rams to end a 5 game losing streak here?

| Re: Air Force at Colorado State Offense gets going as Air Force downs CSU 34-16 THE GAZETTE FORT COLLINS • Air Force’s offensive players have felt guilty in recent weeks about their unit’s lack of production. Senior center Mike Hampton even felt the need to ask some defensive players for forgiveness. “I’d tell them how bad I felt,” he said. “‘Hey, sorry I couldn’t have done more. You’re playing great, and we’re kind of dragging behind.’” No apologies were necessary Saturday. In a 34-16 victory over Colorado State in front of an announced crowd of 22,025 at Hughes Stadium, the offense finally complemented a standout defensive performance.
